Evie Begins Ballet

So we've been playing around with the idea of getting Evie into ballet for a while and though we knew for a fact that she would love it and probably do well, we just didn't have the money.  Classes can be so expensive!  I couldn't believe how much it costs to teach little kids to dance.  I'm also surprised how many parents make it work both logistically and financially.

Anyway, so we finally signed her up for ballet at a place called Miss Libby's in September.  She was so excited and has done so well.  The purpose of signing her up for the class was threefold.

1- we wanted her to have a chance to socialize with other kids since we're homeschooling on our own right now.
2- she has wanted to be a ballet dancer since she was two and we thought it would be a good beginning.
3- our little Evie has such long legs and arms and they seem to get in her way a lot right now.  We used to joke about how Evie could walk barefoot on a flat surface and still trip.  It's those feet and gangly legs!  At some point she'll be our tall, blonde, blue eyed, Swedish beauty, but for right now it couldn't hurt for her to learn a bit of grace and use for those limbs!

She has taken to the class so well.  She has some friends, but surprisingly, she's taken the ballet skills so seriously she actually gets upset when the other girls don't listen.  She says they're all "wobbly".  I laughed.  Due to the fact that she does take class so seriously she learns the routines very quickly and has become her teacher's helper for almost every class and performance.  Miss Holly really enjoys Evie, thank goodness!  We as parents aren't allowed to watch them practice, so they set up monitors in the lobby and special watching days for the parents.  The best part are the recitals.  More to come!

Go Evie!
